Meet users where their levers are
To get users to look at analytics, link them to the software where they do their work.
The other reason most analytics dashboards never get used is that people forget about them.
How could users forget about the source of such valuable insights?
Because they spend all their time using software with something more valuable: their levers.
Even if your analytics are targeted to a specific action that the user has a lever for, the user is often going to go straight to the lever and forget about the analytics.
If you want the user to see the analytics, put it next to the lever, ideally by embedding it in the same program or interface.
And if you can’t do that, put a link to the analytics next to the lever.
